Red-Eye wiggler Vs. The Frenzy

Imagine 100 or 1000 of this guy

and his closest personal friends trying to get some grub at 4:00 in the afternoon. One of the guys down here came off his patio and said, "Look at the flying fish!"

Flying fish? There aren't flying fish here... but there were! 8" long fish jumping out of the water trying to get away from the marauding packs of Crevalle Jacks that were "Caufmanning" the breakers as they came in. You could clearly see them, 6-10 of them in each wave, racing along, eating everything in their way. No time for a camera, but it would have made a really cool picture.

I raced for my rod with the red eye on it...I caught a barracuda on my first cast this week...and chucked it out into the waves. I think I got about two turns of the reel, when bam!! Off he went, ripping out line like there was no tomorrow. I chased down the beach after him and stopped his first run. We fought for a bit and in my third attempt to get him through the breakers, the hook and the red-eye came flying out.

No worries, back it went. BAM!! And on it went for about 20 minutes. The picture is of the last one I caught. Michelle was doing laundry and Margaret was battling black ants at the back door. As I said, no time for cameras.

The school moved down the coast and I decided not to chase after them. Hopefully they'll be back again this week. It was truly amazing.

About those cheap tickets MSP to FLL...
