Welcome to Fall!!

At 4 on Sunday little Betty said in her best whiny voice - "Daddy will you take us fishing?" Sure sweety, it's windy, but it's 80. Why not?

Because at 6 the front pushed through and the 20 mph winds were now COLD!
We went out but the wind was so strong even the big anchor couldn't keep us on our spot. We ran up to the other end of the lake and sat on a 12 foot breakline. I lost lots of minnows trying to track my bobber through the weeds, but I did catch one nice little bass. Season opens next weekend - back he went.

The kids had fun but I needed to thaw out afterwards. Next week...

A little Eagle 'eye action

Welcome to Summer!!!

The Three Svens had a great opening weekend. Saturday night we tried our luck out on Eagle. Noting like Red Lake last year, but we caught some nice fish.

It was so good that Sven Kirt - who has stood his ground valiantly for the last several years that there are no walleyes in Eagle - came out to try.

Sven Mark was with us in the boat and witnessed history in the making as SK boated the first and largest walleye of the night. He also caught 2 nice pike and several crappies.

It was by far the most successful evening for SK on Eagle ever!

We had the AquaVu out and I was able to see the piles of bluegills, crapies and even a Musky - right up close. He made a move like he was going to eat the camera and then swam away. - Wow.

SK and SM heckled me mercilessly for the rest of the night - back story - I've been saying for years that I should buy one, but I'm too dang cheap.

Gotta put shoes on the young'uns!

After the musky went on her way, we moved a little bit shallower and the walleyes were just swimming by. The camera cord said it was about 15 feet and we were all set at 12 so maybe that's why the action was a little slow. I did get to see several 'eyes swim right up to the camera then swim away - very cool.
