It's Alive!
That would be both this blog and my '75 25. One of the last trips out last summer The 3 Svens were out on 'Tonka and the SS Sticker Boat got stuck in some really bad milfoil. I did all that I could to get the weeds off, but I think there was a little overheating problem, because all of a sudden the 25 wasn't happy.
After the trip I pulled the spark plug and there was water in the cylinder. Two options - cracked head (oh please no!) or blown Head gasket.
I took the 25 into work and pulled the head. There was a nice little scorched hole in the head. Phew! A new gasket from Bethel Marine and it runs like a champ.
