Three Svens

The Svens have had quite a bit of good fishing this summer. I don't think any of the official Svens have been skunked and most of the honorary Svens have done well too. We've even had some Bettys come and do honor to their gender.





Last week Sven John took Sven Matt and Sven Richard out in his new boat. It's a nice 16' Lund w/a 40 HP 'Rude. SJ had positioned himself on a weed edge and already had 2 nice pike on the stringer by the time we slow Svens made it to the lake.

We went back to his secret spot and caught several more pike and a bass or two.

This week Sven MarkE and Sven Richard took the SS Sticker Boat out and went back to SJ's secret spot. We caught a few small pike and a bass. We were having a lovely discussion about the towing capacity of a Chev 2500 with the two sizes of Vortec V8, when SME's drag started screeching. I looked over to see a big musky with a small spinnerbait lodged in its upper lip turn broadside and swim off for the anchor rope.

I got the anchor up and the motor and trolling motor. Now it was Mano y Esox.

We needed Sven Steve...or just his firewire!

Sven MarkE's 8 lb test survived about 5 minutes of her pulling us around before she dove into the deep weeds and broke the line. I don't know how big it was, it was big. 40"+ for sure. Of course since his rod didn't break, we had no camera in the boat, so there's no proof. Meh, Hugh never needed proof...



We saw another 'skie later, but the boat spooked her and she swam off.
